About Me
I graduated from Habersham Central High School in 2017, starting off at Georgia State University for three semesters. I was recognized on the Dean's List at Georgia State for my GPA, and was also a member of the Honors College. I transferred Spring 2019 to the Georgia Institute of Technology, where I remain to this day. Due to medical complications, I took from Spring 2020 to Spring 2021 off from school, but I am ready to return Summer 2021.
Growing up, I was always fascinated with the body, convinved that I would be a doctor one day; but after taking a course by Dr. Joe Normandin at Georgia State University, I realized that my true calling was to be a neuroscientist. I immediately changed my major from Biology to Neuroscience.
After attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, I became influenced by two professors in particular: Dr. Timothy Cope and Dr. Mary Holder. Their methods of teaching were intelligent and inspiring, and I loved the way that they approached neuroscience. They were especially accomodating with my medical issues. I joined Dr. Cope's lab Fall 2019, and although I was only able to be part of his team for one semester due to having to unenroll from Tech, he and Dr. Nick Housely taught me more than I could ever repay.
After unenrolling from Tech, I was hired as a SPED paraprofessional at South Habersham Middle School. I'm so grateful for this opportunity, because I have impacted lives: the children's and mine. I feel that I have grown as a person, and am now even more inspired to pursue my dream of becoming a neuroscientist.
